Just a note on Monday...

***EDITED THURSDAY***

Hope you all are coping with the ripples of the current happenings as well as you can, we wish you peace and health. As I told a client the other day, not coming out of the woods and having extra toilet paper is every day for me - so I’ve got a busy week ahead out here in the workshop! I’ll post a lot this week here to help you if you’re feeling anxious or confined, as I can. Just hang with Birdsong (whoever you are, client or not) and we’ll all get through OK. Think about your own creativity or craft, maybe do some of that or just think about it. This is life - joys and sorrows; things we must do and things we want to do; precautions to not hurt nor be hurt by others, and times that frame these balances differently in the moments as we go through them. Do your work as you are able but also work on your inside too - there is no better time to sort out one's priorities for life and what loose ends could be taken care of for more peace in it.

TUESDAY - got my whole list done yesterday, so pacing myself today. Layers of cleanup, a layer on Friday’s update writing, layer on myself because I look like I hopped off a freight train and could use a little freshening up. Bringing some necks over to get the logos burned into the headstocks and picking up a few bodies too wide for me to plane as one piece. Will wash my hands well and namaste instead of the usual handshake and hugs. Prepping to finish routing on two more bodies and get them into sanding, while two bodies should be coming out of sanding into finishing tomorrow. So by the end of this week we should have three in finishing, two in sanding, and four or five on the routing bench in various stages. Parts order arriving today. A thought for this week for those “stuck home” with their kids, this could be the short time looked back on in decades to come where they got to see you as a person, more than just this mythical providing machine. Go deep with them. However awkward the circumstance, our western lives don’t grant us this kind of potential quality time very often. It could change their lives… and yours.

WEDNESDAY - Basses FREED from door limbo! More details on the INVENTORY page - or follow on Facebook, Birdsong Guitars or Scott Beckwith - nothing but instruments, cars & inspiration! Hope you - YOU - are doing OK.

THURSDAY - Good morning! In my continuing effort to sing from the balcony I have and fill your feed with springtime workshop fun, I'm posting a lot on Facebook and also writing a bit extra here on the news page. I'll find a rhythm with it - I love the little mini couch concerts my friends are giving by video, and this is my version with tools, wood (and cars, if you're on Scott Beckwith - the Birdsong Guitars Facebook will get extra shop pics, etc. - so be with both!). Busy shop day today, stay tuned. I hope you make the best of your time and that it involves music. ~Scott, woodgnome in the woods.

Routing work was continued on the three Anniversary basses, which will also be the 248th, 249th, and 250th complete instruments routed by this Bosch Colt! An amazing little tool.
