This week's little extra posts...

Tuesday - Peek in the workshop time: Resting my hands for more routing. Over the years most graduate to more production-oriented ways of shaping wood and routing cavities to fit the parts into. Over the past 20-plus, as far as I've gone for the bodies is to upgrade to thick lexan templates - some of what happens though, like the routing for Fusion models, still happens with the original plywood templates from the early years of Birdsong. The sun shines in through the windows, the breeze comes in through the doors, the air is full of deep Delta blues. Not a whole lot has changed, because I don't want a whole lot to change. It means a lot to me to have these old jigs in my hand and make something beautiful for you with them. They are worn smooth and scarred like the instruments will be in 20-plus years - both tools, both instruments by which greater things happen. I aspire to be like them.

Hope you all are doing OK. Be cool. More goodness to come… here and in life!

THURSDAY! By the end of the day tomorrow, there’ll be a Friday news page post up here and FIVE basses in assembly - the first of the SPRING 20 batch, a mix of orders & inventory, with a steady stream behind them to follow! Stay tuned…
